Seven Lakes Route Tour: Explore the Beauty of Patagonia Argentina
Embark on an unforgettable adventure along the Route of the Seven Lakes, a scenic journey that will take you through the most impressive landscapes of Patagonia Argentina. Discover the majesty of the Nahuel Huapi, Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machónico lakes, surrounded by imposing mountains and lush forests.
The Seven Lakes Route is a popular destination for nature lovers, hiking, biking and photography, and is especially beautiful during the austral summer, when the weather is warm and the days are long.
The Seven Lakes Route has been a scenic road traditionally used by the indigenous communities of the region. It was improved and paved in the 20th century, becoming a popular tourist route. The road, known as National Route 40, was designed to showcase some of the most impressive landscapes of Argentine Patagonia, including the seven lakes that give it its name.

Exploring Villa La Angostura
After passing Puerto Manzano, you pass through Villa La Angostura, a beautiful town officially founded in 1932, which has been a major and growing tourist destination ever since. Although the region has been inhabited by indigenous communities long before that date, the town was established mainly as a tourist and residential destination.
Among Villa La Angostura's main tourist attractions are Los Bosques de Arrayanes, a park famous for its arrayanes trees, a native tree with cinnamon-colored bark that is rare to find in other parts of the world.
Then, after crossing Villa La Angostura, a few kilometers ahead begins the 7 Lakes Road, which runs through Correntoso, Espejo, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso and Machónico lakes.
Arrival to San Martín de los Andes
Once we have visited the 7 Lakes, we will arrive at the beautiful town of San Martín de los Andes. Founded in 1898, San Martin de los Andes was initially a military base established to consolidate Argentine sovereignty in Patagonia. Over time, the town grew and developed into a thriving tourist and residential destination. San Martin de los Andes is home to the imposing Lanin Volcano, Lake Lacar and Cerro Chapelco.
In San Martin de los Andes we will also have the opportunity to enjoy an exquisite lunch and get to know the local Patagonian gastronomy known for its delicious dishes including trout, lamb, deer, and a variety of fruits of the forest. Visitors can enjoy these dishes in numerous local restaurants and breweries.
After our tour in San Martin de los Andes, we will start our return trip to Bariloche to end our magical tour of the 7 lakes.
