Itinerary Quebrada de Humahuaca Day Tour:

Book an exclusive Quebrada de Humahuaca tour of the Humahuaca Canyon, a UNESCO world heritage site in the Province of Jujuy, Argentina. Sightsee the narrow mountain valley, the rainbow coloured rock formations and jagged natural landscapes.

Take this Salta and Jujuy full day tour to explore Argentina’s northern frontier, giving you a taste of the unique style of village life in this region, where people share a common heritage with the people of Peru and Bolivia.

The Quebrada de Humahuaca Day Tour starts in the city of Salta and takes you to the province of Jujuy, to the town of Purmamarca. Here you can experience rural Jujuy culture while visiting the Mercado Artesanal (craft market) in the central plaza, and gaze upon one of the main attractions in Jujuy: the Seven Colours Hill (Cerro de los Siete Colores).

The guided tour then continues closer to Bolivia where you’ll visit the town of Tilcara. Here you’ll see the Devil’s Throat, the ancient Inca ruins of Pucará and the Archaeological Museum.

This day tour from Salta then continues on towards the interior of Quebrada de Humahuaca, first visiting the towns of Huacalera, Uquía and Humahuaca, via an extraordinary road that will take you through the Cerro de la Pollera del Coya, the Yocoirate Volcano and the foothills of the Falda de los Hongos, amongst other amazing geological formations. Stop in Humahuaca for lunch (see notes) before returning to the city of Salta.

During the route back, you’ll see the hills that form part of the Paleta del Pintor (Painter’s Palette) in front of the town of Maimará, as well as the mountain road that runs along the Abra de Santa Laura at 3,900 metres above sea level, the dam of La Ciénaga, Las Maderas and Campo Alegre, and the town of Vaqueros.
