Itinerary Safari Azul Excursion
The Safari Azul tour on the Perito Moreno is a unique experience for those who want to observe the most famous glacier in South America and feel the Patagonian ice up close!
The Safari Azul Tour begins when the tour guides pick you up at the hotel in El Calafate (optional), we start a journey of approximately 80 kilometers along the provincial route N° 11 following and surrounding the Lago Argentino, to then enter the Los Glaciares National Park. Upon arrival, a catamaran awaits us at the famous Bajo de las Sombras pier.
From the dock we start the 20-minute navigation on Lake Argentino until we cross to the other shore, while you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of the Perito Moreno Glacier and the forest, contrasting with the imposing Cordillera and its snow-capped peaks.
Once we reach the other side, we disembark and our experienced guides will give a talk to learn more about the glacier and natural features of the destination. Then we will get ready for the long awaited hike always with a view of the south wall of the glacier. The one and a half kilometer hike will take place along the lake shore and through the forest with a view of the glacier.
After 30 minutes of walking through the natural trails of the park you will begin to enjoy the immensity of the glacier, with its intense and varied winter colors and hear, if you are lucky, the formation of its unique crevasses. You will have time to take beautiful pictures before returning, boarding again and sailing to the other shore.
Once at the port, if you have hired the optional transfer service, we will go to the footbridges where we will have free time to enjoy an incredible panoramic view of the park and walk along the footbridges. Finally we return to El Calafate.

Important Notes Safari Azul Excursion
- Age politics: Only suitable for people between 6 and 70, without exception.
- Children Policy: Children from 6 to 15 years old pay with discount. To be valid the discount for minors it is necessary to present the photo of the minor's passport, once the reservation is made we will contact you to request it.
- Accessibility alert: Not suitable for pregnant women, people with mobility difficulties, with heart problems or others that may impair their health during the hike.
- Transfer policy: For the transfer to the Perito Moreno Glacier (optional), passengers staying at the following hotels should meet at the office in the center of El Calafate, at the arranged time: Austral, Albergue Patagonia, Shilling, La Loma, Apart Chalten, Hotel Amado, Apart Libertador, Hospedaje Alejandra, Oregón, Camping Ovejero, Cabaña Santa Mónica.
- Special data request: After your payment is done, you will be requested to complete personal details for every passenger indispensable to confirm your booking: full name as it appears on your passport, passport number, date of birth, gender, nationality. Without this data, we cannot make the reservation or guarantee the availability of the tour.
- Cancellation policies at destination: If, at the discretion of the person in charge of providing the service, the client has not respected the requirements and physical capabilities required for the excursion, as a safety measure may deny the completion of the walk and will be considered no show.
- Extra language guide: The guides on the regular excursions are Spanish/English. In case of requesting a guide in another language, we can add them with an additional.
- Not included: meals, drinks, and tickets to the National Park. These must be paid in cash at the place.
- Season alert: The Blue Safari is not suspended due to weather changes as long as safety conditions allow it.
