If you find yourself in El Calafate, one of the best ways to explore the natural beauty of Patagonia is through an exclusive excursion to El Chaltén, the trekking capital of Argentina. This excursion will take you to see a large number of natural places that will leave you breathless. ideal for the whole family!

Start the Adventure from El Calafate

Starting early in the morning from El Calafate, where we will pass by your hotel and then take the renowned Route 40, a route known for skirting the majestic Argentino Lake and crossing the Santa Cruz River. While you enjoy the tour, our guide will tell you about the experiences of Charles Darwin and the imposing Mount Fitz Roy.

We will continue the tour until we cross the La Leona River, where you will arrive at an old hotel on the road and now a very famous whereabouts, Paso La Leona, which today is almost a museum on Route 40, there we will make a brief stop to relax your legs and that you have the option of enjoying a delicious coffee with the traditional homemade cakes.

Following the tour, we will border Lake Viedma with the majestic Andes Mountains in the background, including Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre in sight. Before reaching the town of El Chaltén, a stop is made at the Viedma Glacier viewpoint, from where you can appreciate a beautiful panoramic view of the Glacier, the Andean Mountains and the emblematic Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. Finally, after 3 hours of travel, the mountain village of El Chaltén is reached, having traveled 220 kilometers.

In El Chaltén, the starting point for the walk is the National Parks Interpretation Center, where one of the park's professional guides will start the walk to the Los Cóndores Viewpoint.

Los Cóndores Viewpoint

This viewpoint has a short path (approx 2 hours) and with low difficulty. It is famous for its magnificent viewpoint which reveals the entire mountain range that surrounds Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre, including Agujas Mermoz, Saint Exupéry, Poincenot, among others. In addition, if the weather permits, you may be lucky enough to observe the flight of the condors over El Chaltén and the Piedras Blancas Glacier. All this with the Rio de las Vueltas in the background. It is a panorama from another planet!

After this pleasant walk we will go to a restaurant in the center of town to enjoy lunch and talk about the experience of having completed the first walk in the Argentine Trekking Capital!

Salto del Chorrillo

In the afternoon, the tour continues to the Valley of the Río de las Vueltas with a short drive. We will start the walk together with the guide until we reach Salto del Chorrillo, where you will be able to appreciate a beautiful waterfall with crystalline waters, surrounded by Patagonian forest of extreme beauty, here you will have time to enjoy the natural landscape and take beautiful pictures of the waterfall.

Finally you will have time to tour the town of El Chaltén before returning to El Calafate.
