What does intensive minitrekking consist of?

This glacier hike lasts about 3 hours and is more intense than the traditional Minitrekking. You walk faster and climb a lot of slopes.

The walk on the ice with crampons lasts about an hour. It is done 1km west of the traditional Minitrekking and you will see crevasses, lagoons, seracs and other incredible glacier formations. 

You also visit a huge waterfall a few meters from the glacier and the toast is made on the boat back to the port.

The Intensive Minitrekking in the Perito Moreno is for athletic, non-sedentary, non-obese and non-healthy people between 18 and 55 years old. This is a highly personalized excursion with a bilingual mountain guide for every 10 passengers maximum. The clothing and passenger profile is similar to that of Big Ice trekking. It is very important to bring a backpack, trekking boots or sneakers with laces, waterproof jacket, gloves, etc.

Important Notes

  • Difference with traditional Minitrekking: This hike has the same duration as the traditional Minitrekking but covers almost twice the distance, is more physically intense due to the pace of walking and with lots of slopes. Suitable only for people in good physical condition.
  • Age politics: Only suitable for people between 8 and 55, without exception.
  • Children Policy: Children from 8 to 15 years old pay with discount. To be valid the discount for minors is necessary to present the photo of the child's passport, once the reservation is made we will contact you to request it.
  • Accessibility alert: PROHIBITED: people with cardiovascular disease, COPD, emphysema, asthma. NOT APPLICABLE: For people with physical or mental disabilities and overweight people or pregnant women.
  • Transfer policy: For the transfer to the Perito Moreno Glacier (optional), passengers staying at the following hotels should meet at the office in the center of El Calafate, at the arranged time: Austral, Albergue Patagonia, Shilling, La Loma, Apart Chalten, Hotel Amado, Apart Libertador, Hospedaje Alejandra, Oregón, Camping Ovejero, Cabaña Santa Mónica.
  • Special data request: After your payment is done, you will be requested to complete personal details for every passenger indispensable to confirm your booking: full name as it appears on your passport, passport number, date of birth, gender, nationality. Without this data, we cannot make the reservation or guarantee the availability of the tour.
  • Cancellation policies at destination: If, at the discretion of the person in charge of providing the service, the client has not respected the requirements and physical capabilities required for the excursion, as a safety measure may deny the completion of the walk and will be considered no show.
  • Extra language guide: The guides on the regular excursions are Spanish/English. In case of requesting a guide in another language, we can add them with an additional.
  • Not included:  meals, drinks, and tickets to the National Park. These must be paid in cash at the place. 
  • Season alert: Please note that due to the extreme weather conditions in winter, the Intensive Mini-trekking Perito Moreno is not available from June to September. Please avoid selecting these dates on the calendar or contact our support team for further information.

How are adverse weather conditions handled?

The Intensive Minitrekking takes place in a natural environment and is subject to weather conditions. The excursion is not suspended unless safety conditions allow it. The safety of the participants is always a priority.
